21st September is the Day we pledge to be safer drivers with the aim of reducing road deaths across Europe.
The RSA and An Garda Sjochana are asking you to make the pledge. As Professional Drivers you have a social obligation to set a good example to other road users. Use your skills, knowledge and experience to demonstrate how to driver in a safe and respectful manner. Remember that all other road users, pedestrians, cyclists, novis and learner drivers don’t have your level of experience or skills so please allow them to make mistakes, allow them to cycle without stabilisers for the first time. Set a high standard of driving for your self and keep to it, no mobile phone, wear your seatbelt, don’t speed and be tolerant.
Tell your family and friends about the pledge and get them to make it. The more people that take the pledge the safer our roads will be.
