Applegreen Rathcoole on the N7 is the parking area that does not welcome refrigerated drivers. So why is the RSA and the Environmentalists not up in arms over this? Surely having received planning permission for parking of HGV’s they did not exclude refrigerated vehicles in their planning application submission. It would be in every bodies interest if service areas were made to provide plug-ins for fridges. This would effectively deal with the noise and CO2 issue while ensuring that drivers get to rest when necessary. Circle K in Gorey provide plug-ins and this initiative should set one of the bench marks for all service areas.
We have seen planning permission being granted for service areas on main road networks only for the service area operators make changes after permission is granted.

Will refrigerated drivers refuel in Applegreen? Evidently Applegreen don’t care too much about loosing that business.
