Have your say – EU driving licence rules – Evaluation

The Commission will carry out an evaluation of Directive 2006/126/EC on driving licences, which introduced a standard format for all driving licences issued in the EU and standardised administrative validity periods.
It will assess how well the Directive has performed since it was adopted in 2006 by assessing if it has:
- improved road safety
- made it easier for Europeans to travel by car and
- reduced the possibility of driving licence fraud.
