For the time NO 32 METER LONG TRUCKS in the Netherlands
The Netherlands have stopped their plans for the time being to use 32-meter-long and up to 72-ton trucks for test drives between Rotterdam and Venlo on public roads this year. The Dutch Ministry of Transport made this decision because the safety of other road users cannot be guaranteed when a 32-meter truck is used, according to the Dutch media.

This is the result of a study commissioned by the Ministry from the Dutch Road Safety Agency (RDW) and the Dutch Institute for Scientific Research on Road Safety (SWOV). The study analyzed journeys made by the 32-meter truck on the route planned for the test using computer simulations.

Routes off the highway are problematic
According to this, driving the vehicles called Super EcoCombi (SEC) in the Netherlands on the motorway is possible without hesitation. However, the routes away from the motorways are problematic.

There is interest in the vehicles
In principle, however, the Dutch Ministry of Transport seems to want to stick to its SEC plans. “The interest in these vehicles is there and their potential is great,” the Dutch specialist magazine TTM quoted an employee of the Ministry of Transport.

In the case of the SEC model planned in the Netherlands, two normal 13.60 meter long trailers, which are connected to one another by a dolly, are attached to a tractor unit. The gross vehicle weight should be allowed to reach 72 tons.
