Important Notice: Irish Professional Driver Championships 2026
It is with great regret that the Association must announce the cancellation of this year’s Irish Professional Driver Championships, which had been due to take place at Naas Racecourse on Saturday, 30 May.
This decision has not been taken lightly. Unfortunately, due to a significant increase in the insurance costs associated with running the event, it is no longer financially responsible to proceed with the full championships this year.
The Association also has a responsibility to manage its funds carefully. We must ensure that sufficient funds remain available to support Ireland’s participation at the World Professional Driver Championships in Heidelberg, Germany, this September.
In relation to the selection of the Irish team for the World Championships, the team will be selected from the final standings at last September’s competition. Where any driver places cannot be filled from those final standings, the Association will invite drivers who have competed in company events to apply to the selection board for available positions.
The relevant competitors will be contacted directly with further details regarding team selection
We fully appreciate that this news will be disappointing for competitors, supporters, volunteers, sponsors and everyone who had planned to attend. The Irish Professional Driver Championships is an important event for recognising the skill, professionalism and dedication of Ireland’s professional drivers.
We would like to sincerely thank all competitors, members, volunteers, supporters, sponsors and industry partners for their continued understanding and support. The Association remains committed to promoting professional driving standards in Ireland and to supporting the Irish team at international level.
